Ashikkusu (アシックス) is a Japanese acronym for the Latin phrase anima sana in corpore sano, which translates to “a sound mind, in a sound body.” Even if Asics hadn’t previously lived up to the meaning behind their name, then they certainly do now that they have introduced the 30th generation of their Gel-Kayano line of running shoes.
Advanced stability. Softer cushioning properties. These are the promises behind every pair of Gel-Kayano 30 shoes. Whether you’re embarking on a leisurely 5k or vying for top honors at an Ironman Triathlon, the Gel-Kayano 30 doesn’t miss an opportunity to keep your feet comfortable, your stride efficient, and your body sound.
How does the Gel-Kayano 30 fill such a tall order? With numerous performance-enhancing features, of course!
4D Guidance System
Newly introduced with the Gel-Kayano 30, the 4D Guidance System is engineered to enhance the runner’s stability and comfort throughout the full duration of their voyage. Instead of restricting movement by bracing the feet, the 4D Guidance System combines energetic medial foam, wider base nets, an increased heel bevel, and a sculpted midsole that all adapt to the natural changes to pronation which result from gradual fatigue. It’s a stability running shoe that doesn’t feel like a stability running shoe!
The Gel-Kayano 30 is ideal for all runners, but is especially suitable for those who are prone to overpronation and the shin splints, plantar fasciitis, bunions, heel spurs and other injuries that can occur as a result.
FF Blast Plus Eco
Despite weighing 19 percent less than Asics’ previous FF Blast technology, FF Blast Plus features 20 percent more cushioning foam. Lightweight and fluffy – exactly what running on a cloud would feel like, if a cloud were a solid object. FF Blast Plus Eco is made of at least 20 percent bio-based material from renewable sources, including byproduct from sugarcane processing. The Gel-Kayano 30’s 4mm higher stack height only provides an even more comfortable ride!
Rearfoot PureGEL Technology
Asics has continuously developed their GEL technology since 1986. The latest generation is 65 percent softer than conventional visible GEL technology, which is why it excels at absorbing impact, preventing twists, and promoting optimal stability with each and every stride. When it is placed in the rearfoot of the shoe, Asics’ PureGEL technology provides unparalleled comfort to short- and long-distance runners alike – especially those who favor striking the ground with their heels.
External Back Heel Counter
Asics’ Heel Clutching System is a special resin insert within the heel of the shoe. It reduces the width of the gap between the shoe and the foot to virtually eliminate heel displacement, thus decreasing the runner’s risk of gradually developing a fractured calcaneus.
Engineered Stretch Knit Upper
Just as breathable as it is durable, the Gel-Kayano 30’s upper assures a comfortable run even in the most sweltering weather. The upper is made of at least 75 percent recycled materials. And if you’re one of our vegan friends, you can take heart that no materials in the Gel-Kayano 30 are of animal origin. This shoe’s carbon footprint is 14 percent lower than the industry average as well!
OrthoLite X-55 Sockliner
The X-55 foam insole by OrthoLite promotes greater comfort, stability and support regardless of the shoe it is fitted to. When it is added to athletic footwear, X-55 noticeably increases the athlete’s sense of propulsion while simultaneously combatting their fatigue. The X-55 is also exceedingly durable, thus eliminating the need to eventually purchase replacement insoles for your new favorite pair of running shoes.
AHARPLUS Heel Plug
Asics’ AHARPLUS outer sole material is made of the same rubber commonly found in car tires. The abrasion resistance of AHARPLUS is about three times greater than that of the rubber conventionally used to make outsoles. In spite of this, AHARPLUS also weighs less than half as much as traditional outsole rubber – without sacrificing outstanding cushioning.
A pair of men’s size 9 Gel-Kayano 30 shoes tips the scales at a mere 10.7 ounces; a pair of women’s size 8 shoes, 9.3 ounces. The Gel-Kayano 30’s 40mm heel height and 30mm forefoot height shoe give it a heel drop of 10mm. Available in a wide selection of colors, there’s a stylish Gel-Kayano 30 whether you prefer black on black or something with a little more flair!
