Meet the Peak Performance Fitness Gear Team
Fitness enthusiasts who are committed to supplying you with high-quality footwear, equipment and more!
I was blessed with speed or I should actually say, speed was forced upon me because I would get under my brother Mike’s skin, and if I didn’t outrun him at a young age, I would have paid the price if you know what I mean.
Started running on the track during Track & Field Day in 5th & 6th Grade. Enjoyed it! Continued through Jr. High School and into High School. Ran at the Iowa State Track meet all four years in High School. Winning the 4 x 100 meter relay as a team member as a Junior and Senior. And as a team we won the State Track Meet in the Spring of 1981.
Continue my Track Career in College at Buena Vista College running 100’s,200’s & 400’s as individual and relay teams. My personal best in the 100 meters was 10.55. Good Day! I also played football in High School and College as well. Playing Cornerback, what got me on the field initially was my speed. An All Conference Defensive Back as a Junior and Senior. Started chasing after a beautiful coed who was also a runner, and eventually slowed down enough for me to catch her and become my wife, Beth!
Continuing to run after college, eventually running several half marathons, 10Ks and 5Ks. Then in the 90’s, I started chasing my kids and teaching them how to run. Both of my daughters, Kailea & Ashley ran track in Jr High and High School. And both continue to run today.
Starting a Running Store with my brother Mike in March of 1995. Walk & Run Fitness, eventually becoming Peak Performance. Sioux City opened in July of 1996 supporting the local running community and working closely with many of the area’s medical professionals. Track & Field is still in my blood, and growing up I didn’t have the ability to buy new shoes.
Starting my H.A.R.T. Foundation, the foundation’s is to purchase shoes & spikes for high school Track & Field and Cross Country athletes. I never want the reason an athlete cannot participate in either sport because they cannot afford shoes. One coach told me recently that an athlete he coaches made a comment that the shoes they received “Made their Day” and then went on to say, that this athlete “doesn’t have many days that are made”.
Even though I may not run as much, I am still passionate about helping my customers stay healthy and enjoy whatever they are doing for exercise. Holding the belief that if I would not own the shoe myself, I will not sell it in my store. During the past 30 years I have seen major changes in footwear, but as shoes get better, I still have some of my favorites from the past. I sold the Asics Kayano 1 and in the spring of 2023, I will sell the Kayano 30! Time flies when you are having fun, and I have been blessed to enjoy the ride.
